On April 4th, 2018, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning issued a public notice with regards to preparation of online services and online processing of land transactions at the lands registry in an effort to digitize the lands registry. The online services commenced on April 3rd, 2018 through the Lands Information Management System (LIMS) which is accessible through the Government Service Portal www.ecitizen.go.ke.
In response to the notification, the Law Society of Kenya wrote to the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning on April 5th, 2018 regarding legal issues affecting the new online services and requested immediate suspension of the online services and online processing of land transactions.
